March 2007 Update
Dear friends,
We rejoice for all that God is doing in our lives already in 2007,
including that Shannon and I are expecting our first child sometime
around August! Glory be to Him!
We are glad to be back in our mission field of Charlotte after several
weeks of travel, which included attending our denomination's church
planter's retreat, attending a church planting conference in Orlando,
and visiting a few days with family and friends in south Florida. We
have made many new friends among fellow pastors, church planters, and
their wives from all around the country and even around the world!
Ministering to Latino immigrants in Charlotte has become more
challenging with the increasing crackdown on those who are not legally
here. Regardless of their immigration status, Latinos need the Gospel.
Yet, reaching them with the Gospel has grown more difficult as fear and
suspicion abound in the Latino community. There are many moral,
spiritual, and political dimensions to this situation, but we must pray
that our government leaders will work to provide a more fair, just, and
compassionate immigration process that weeds out criminals but provides
opportunities to those hard-working immigrants who are serving in areas
where there otherwise would be a shortage of labor.
Prayer Requests
- Please pray for Shannon during her pregnancy and for our unborn child.
- Pray that we will grow in our love for Christ and His Church.
- Pray for our ministry to Spanish-speakers and to English-speakers of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
- Pray that our elected officials will reform our very troubled immigration system in a way that is honoring to God.
- Pray that the faithful proclamation of the Gospel of Christ will transform south central Charlotte, North America, and the world!
